Chicago Registration Process - New1530 - 03-12-2024

Anyone here ever have issues registering a STR in Chicago? The site is a bit short on details regarding the "Quality of Life" plan and the "Policies and Procedures. Is there a template out there they are using or does anyone have experience submitting a request?

At the time, I used this walkthrough video from ChicagoBACP. It's from two years ago so not sure if certain things changed but it provides good context.

Also, I'm assuming you've done so but make sure your building is not on the exclusion list if you are in a Condo/HOA.

Chicago's STR registration is...a process, to put it mildly.  The lack of detail on their site is frustrating, I know.  I haven't found a magic template, but reaching out to the city's licensing department directly might be your best bet.

I’ve been through the STR registration process in Chicago, and I get what you mean about the "Quality of Life" and "Policies and Procedures" sections being a bit vague. When I submitted mine, I found it helpful to be really clear on how I planned to minimize any impact on the neighborhood, especially regarding noise, trash, and parking. I didn’t find a specific template, but just addressing those concerns in a straightforward way seemed to work. If you’re stuck, reaching out directly to the city might get you some clarification—they were pretty helpful when I had questions.
