New Montreal Restrictions - sbop - 03-19-2025 Montreal just passed a pretty unique ordinance on airbnb's. I don't think I've ever seen any other cities place limits on certain periods of the year. Not sure how limiting airbnb's to certain months of the year will help address housing problems. What are property owners going to do with their property for the other 9 months? RE: New Montreal Restrictions - Sky_dog - 03-20-2025 I'd definitely be interested to see what the business model of existing property owners will be if they can only rent for 3 months in the summer. Perhaps they will offer furnished rentals for 30+days (furnished finders)? or target the student population? I would expect that alot of owners who are affected by this rule to put their place up for sale if they can no longer make any income. Perhaps that is the intended effect.. Here in Toronto the regulations pretty much means that the majority of rentals are shared room accommodations. There still are listings where people seem to rent out entire apartments but I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they are reported and have to cease operating. |
