As collecting fees is often a hot topic here, make sure everyone is aware that Airbnb has updated their policy around fees. What is important is that hosts will need to make sure that any fees are part of the booking process. This obviously will cause problems in situations where a guest shows up with more people than in the booking and refuses to pay the extra person fee, or shows up with pets and refuses the pet fee.

This may actually end up working in our favor. If the fees are part of the booking interface rather than something we need to ask for through messaging I think guests are more apt to pay them upfront and we won't see situations where fees are discussed and mentioned but guests never pay them.

This is actually one of those rare instances where I'm happy with the changes airbnb is making!

The point is you should build as much of your overhead into your rate as possible.
