Once again, Airbnb shows how they don’t even follow their own policies. Shame on them!!!
A guest who booked a week prior to their reservation canceled on the day of reservation. They canceled because they didn’t realize they booked a shared accommodation.
3 days later, they proceeded to leave a 1 star review blaming ME of course (because why take responsibility for making your own mistake, right? God forbid.) I make it very clear on my listing that this is a shared home. And no surprise there, Airbnb has refused to take the review down - yes they did show up and left after an hour.

Sadly pretty common. Airbnb rarely removes reviews unless they clearly break policy, even when facts are wrong. Best move is a short, factual public reply correcting it. Add “SHARED HOME” to the title and first photo caption going forward. One bad review won't destroy you, especially if it's clear its an issue with the guest and not your listing.

Why I just let people cancel free of charge not worth the retribution granted dont need the airbnb money its just extra but bookings that back for me are rare think its happened twice. Especially if this is a shared accommodation in your home and the refund itself is not much just give it back so you dont deal with this. Not fair, I get it but its the better business decision.

Reply to the review, but don’t be accusatory, so you don’t come across as a crazy host
Add shared room in the title

Respond to your own review and make sure you leave an appropriate review for the guest so that other airbnb host's don't get burned!!
