How should I rate this guest? - hellofellicia - 03-06-2026 Well, we had our first bad guest. I have a small one bedroom cottage so typically it’s just couples or girlfriends coming for the tourist area and leaving the place impeccable. It started with the guest parking in the neighbors driveway despite clear instructions on where to park. She didn’t respond when the neighbor knocked on the door or when I sent her messages telling her to move, despite reading them. My neighbor was understandably angry because he couldn’t get into his parking spot, and had to park at the end of the street. She finally responded the next morning and moved her car to the correct spot. On checkout day, she asked if she could check out late, and we told her she could but to confirm when she’s out so i know when to send in the cleaner. She never responded, and never confirmed checkout. My cleaner just let me know that there was vomit all over the towels and linens, and empty bottles of alcohol everywhere. Am I overreacting or does this warrant a bad review? What would you give the guest? RE: How should I rate this guest? - ChrisFromTheOC - 03-07-2026 From what you described it sounds like she just arrived and got piss drunk by herself for the night? Sounds like a troubled individual possibly looking for a place to drink away some tough times... nonetheless I would leave an accurate review of the situation but beware of leaving specific allegations. Just leave it high level like "would not recommend to other airbnb hosts" or something of that nature so it's less likely for them to contest it and get it removed. RE: How should I rate this guest? - kss8888 - 03-09-2026 I know every other airbnb host has your typical "one star" response but personally I feel like a 2 star or 3 star will be much more effective in this scenario and will make other hosts stop and read what you have to stay. The 1 star's usually just seem so extreme and while this sounds like a guest I would not want to have, at least she ended up leaving your place on the day of check-out and didn't cause any damage.. |
