The Worst Guest (Story Time) - tracon - 03-08-2024
We just had a guest who booked for 2 - said it was a married couple looking to get away from the weekend and wanting to explore the nearby attractions- we have instantbook off. OK great I thought, no problem here as they had 2 5 star reviews (albeit from property management companies). On the day of check-in, they arrive at EIGHT in the morning with no notice. The house was ready and I let them into the house early. (I dont have an "early check in" fee). Lo and behold, as I glance at the camera in the driveway, I count FOUR children and TWO dogs climbing out of a suburban. (we are no pets) One of the kids starts running off from the family and running around the yard already.
I ask the woman who booked about the pets, and she said they were "emotional support animals" for their autistic child. They also mention they did not believe children counted in the booking. I should have put up more of a fight at this point, but once again I let it be. Over the next 2 days of the booking I get non-stop alerts from the camera due to their kids running around in the yard, and I honestly don't think they even left to "go see any attractions".
On the day of check-out, the house was a complete mess - furniture rearranged everywhere with food smears on the couch, pillows and a nice duvet out on the backyard from what appears to be an outdoor "pillow fort" and every single dish and cup left out dirty - not even stacked in the sink. Not to mention, they apparently never bothered to pick up after their "emotional support animal" in the backyard.

I would have canceled the reservation when I saw the 4 extra guests and unregistered pets come out of the car. Did your listing even have enough beds for everyone?

This is oddly reminiscent of one of my worst guests who mentioned they were two moms in town for a reunion and ended up bringing an entire van full of toddlers and children who I am fairly certain left the kids alone while they partied at their reunion. The kids went wild throughout the house and ended up breaking some furniture and dishes.
