Host in FL - in our house manual I always inform my guests that although the pool is heated, the temperature can vary due to nighttime temperatures and the temperature is set to 80 degrees. (guests cannot change the temperature). Some guests seem to think that a heated pool means that the water is always at 90 degrees and ever other guest always seems to ask about the temperature of the water. I'm thinking of just telling my guests the pool is unheated and forgo the $75 a night pool heat fee to manage expectations.

IMO the pool heating is more trouble than it's worth. We charge $100 a night to heat the pool, which is what it actually costs to heat the pool. We get a million questions from people who have never owned or dealt with pools before so we really aren't even making money on the fee.

We don't make money off our pool heating charge either. If anything, it just helps offset the costs. You just need to communicate to the guests the actual price of heating a pool so they understand you are not just trying to nickel and dime them, and let them know that you don't just flip and switch and the water because magically hot like in a bathtub.
