If any of you are using ADT and have signed a multi-year contract (in my case 3 years), you may or may not have noticed that at your 1 year anniversery ADT always tries to slip in an increase. What many may not know (and I missed this after the first increase) is that you can actually "object" to the increase within 30 days by "providing written notice". This is explicitly within your contract (item 3). While the contract says that you have to provide "written objection" you actually can just call the customer service number and get them to stop any increases. Here's how:
1. Call ADT at 1-800-646-7977. In my case my phone # is already on file so I don't need to provide acct info or verify.
2. Select the billing department. Tell the AI robot "object to rate increase".
3. They will transfer you rather quickly to a U.S based service agent who reads a short script telling you how ADT has small price increases to maintain and provide new services to customers.
4. Tell them great, but in my contract it says I can object within 30 days and I object to this rate increase.
5. The agent says he will "reverse" the increase. Didn't seem to pushy.
6. Done within 3 minutes.
